I like to think the DayZ timeline started when the mod first went live in 2012. So we're two years and ten months into the DayZ apocalypse and in that time the infection spread to places near and far (look to the mods additional maps for reference).

If such a thing existed in dayz i could handle the abundance of red text. EDIT: This is also true, feels good on the feet. ^_^

Personally i'd like to walk barefoot but my character keeps whining like a little bitch. <_<

Lots of people probably do not have the time or patience to slow walk long distances in DayZ.
